Terms of use

In effect from 19 August 2026

Using WatWat means accepting the terms below. They are written plainly because there is nothing complicated here: a site of sourced facts you can scroll through, save and read.

What this site is

WatWat publishes short knowledge cards, each one based on a real scientific or journalistic source linked from the card itself. The service is provided as is, free of charge, with no sign-up.

Accuracy

Every card is checked against a source before it is published, and every card carries a field setting out what is still unknown or disputed. Science moves, though: a finding that was right on the day it was published can be revised later. The site is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial or any other professional advice, and should not be relied on as one.

Intellectual property

The text, the design and the code of WatWat belong to the operator of the site. The photographs on the cards are real pictures from Wikimedia Commons and similar open licences. The photographer and the licence for each one appear on the image credits page. The design of the site and the card catalogue as a whole may not be copied for commercial purposes without permission.

Fair use

You are welcome to browse, save cards and share them. Do not attempt to break in, to scrape the site automatically at scale, or to interfere with how it works for anyone else.

Ads

The site and the app may show ads supplied by Google AdSense, Google AdMob or similar services. The content of an ad is chosen by advertisers and by Google’s systems, and we are not responsible for outside content that appears inside the ad itself.

Limitation of liability

You use the site at your own risk. We are not liable for direct or indirect loss arising from use of the information on the site, or from relying on it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page reflects the most recent update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Israeli law, and any dispute will be heard by the competent courts in Israel.
