Privacy policy

In effect from 9 October 2026

WatWat is a knowledge site and app: short fact cards, each one with a source. This policy describes what happens to your information while you use them. If anything here is unclear, write to us directly at the address at the foot of the page.

Who runs the service

WatWat is operated by CREATEIT STUDIO LTD. For any question about privacy, write to shy@createit.tv.

Accounts and anything you send us

There is no sign-up and no user account. We do not ask for a name, a phone number or an email address in order to read cards. If you write to us of your own accord, we use what you sent only to answer you.

What is stored, and where

Your reading preferences, meaning your interests, the cards you saved, your run of days and what you have already read, are kept on your device alone, using a browser feature called localStorage. They are never sent to our server. Clear the app or browser data, or move to another device, and they are gone.

Ads on the site (Google AdSense, optional)

On the site only, not in the apps, Google AdSense ads may appear. It is off by default and turns on only if you choose it: “Me too” in the banner accepts it along with Google measurement and the Meta Pixel, “No thanks” refuses every service, and “Only some” opens the choices one by one. Until you turn it on, the AdSense code is never loaded. Once it is on, Google receives the page address from your browser along with device and usage data in order to serve ads, and may set cookies. We request non-personalized ads only, and show banners inside the page, never pop-ups or full-screen ads. Google has not yet finished reviewing the site, so ads may not appear even after you turn it on. Clearing the box in the privacy preferences window stops new ad requests immediately. More on Google’s advertising page.

Meta Pixel (optional)

On the site only, not in the apps, the Meta Pixel can run. It is off by default and turns on only if you choose it: “Me too” in the banner accepts it along with Google measurement and ads, “No thanks” refuses every service, and “Only some” opens the choices one by one. In the privacy preferences window, “Allow measurement” turns on Google Analytics only, not Meta. Until you turn it on, Meta’s code is never loaded. Once it is on, Meta is told about every page view, including the full page address, which means which card you read, and may use that for measurement and for retargeting on Facebook and Instagram. We send no other events, no name, no email and nothing you typed. To turn it off, open privacy preferences and clear the box: reporting stops at once and Meta’s cookies on the site, _fbp and _fbc, are deleted. More in Meta’s privacy policy.

Ads in the apps

The WatWat apps include Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect a device identifier, approximate location, interactions with the ads, and crash and performance data. Advertising consent in the apps is handled separately through Google’s consent tool (UMP), and the privacy choices can be reopened from the settings screen in the app where that applies. More on Google’s partner page.

Usage measurement

Google Analytics 4 runs on the site only after you say so: “Me too” in the banner, which also accepts the Meta Pixel and ads; “Allow measurement” in the privacy preferences window, which is Google measurement alone; and “Only some”, which opens the choices one by one. “No thanks” refuses every service. Until you accept, the tag is never loaded. While measurement is on we send only a general page type, meaning home, card or other, and general browser and device information. Not which card you read, not the full page address, not the page title and not where you came from. Google Signals and ad personalization are off. We send no name, no email and no text you typed. You can turn measurement off at any time through the privacy preferences button: it stops at once and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. More in Google’s privacy policy.

Children

The site and the app are not intended for children under 13.

Your rights

You can delete the local reading preferences through your app or browser data. If you sent us details in a message, you can ask for access, correction or deletion at the address above. Advertising choices are available through your device settings and Google’s own services, and in the app through the settings screen where that applies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, for instance if we add a service that collects information, we will update the date at the top of this page.
